Airshow Run Report Jan 2009
Wings Over Wairarapa Airshow Run Report by Kath Morse.

Twelve MGs met in the rain at Woodville, and one Morgan joined us at Pahiatua. It rained steadily all the way until, believe it not, we came to Masterton.
We had a group stop and then went through gate D and parked up amongst other classic cars on display ( We were the biggest bunch.)
However the attraction was the air show, not the classic cars, so we went our own ways towards the airfield and the military displays. The entertainment was full on against a backdrop of dark storm clouds.
We watched aerial performances of classics from the thirties and top guns from WW1.
Then the Harvards display from the roaring 40’s.
We sat together for lunch and then the sun came out, and gave us beautiful Wairarapa weather.
In the afternoon we saw the best fighters from WW1 and the war planes over the Pacific.
We loved the Red Checkers aerobics and the war planes in Europe.
Then the airfield attack, which had our adrenaline pumping. We were finally humbled by the Salute to the Few.
Overall the organization was splendid and the radio commentary by the famous Jim Hickey was informative and colourful.
This was a great first outing for the MG club Manawatu and thanks must go to Rachel for organizing it.
A good start for our 2009 programme, a fore runner for an exciting year ahead.
